Public Works Laborer

The Village of Roanoke is accepting applications for a position in the Public Works Department. Applicant must be mechanically inclined, able to perform manual labor and will be working with water, sewer and street infrastructure in all types of weather. Applicant must be available to work at all hours to repair water and sewer infrastructure and must operate a snow plow.  Applicant must be able to be trained to operate a state-of-the-art water plant with PLC control system.  Applicant must possess strong mechanical skills and have the ability to perform routine maintenance on the Village’s fleet of equipment.  Must have or be willing to obtain a water and sewer operator’s license as mandated by the IEPA. Must have a CDL (truck license) or ability to obtain it within 90 days of hiring. Applicant must be able to work unsupervised and complete all job tasks with minimum amount of oversite and supervision. Must live in or be willing to relocate to Roanoke.
